Opening conference of the project “Business zone Marof Lekenik – driver of local development” was held on Friday, 19 December 2014 at the premises of the public library in Lekenik to the project presented by the media and the general public. The project was prepared in cooperation of the Municipality of Lekenik and Development Agency of Sisak -Moslavina County SI-MO-RA Ltd. In February 2014, was reported to IV. call for proposals for “grant schemes for business infrastructure”, the number of calls RC 1.1.O5 funded under the Operational Programme Regional Competitiveness 2007th to 2013th After the procedure of evaluation of project applications by the decision of the Ministry of Regional Development and EU funds this project is selected for funding, and in September 2014 the municipality Lekenik has concluded a grant for projects funded by the Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund of the EU as part of the 2007 program .- 2013.

The project started on 1 October 2014, and the project will last 24 months. The contract value of the project is £ 32,608,320.66, of which awarded grants amount to £ 30,778,993.87 (94.39%) and the Municipality of Lekenik co-finance the project in the amount of 1,829,326.79 kn (5,61% ).

To manage the overall project and implementation of project activities and the dynamics responsible project team consisting of five members appointed coordinator of the Municipality of Lekenik and Project Partner Development Agency SMC SI-MO-RA Ltd.

The overall objective of this project is to contribute to sustainable development of the Municipality of Lekenik and the wider environment by encouraging the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and creating jobs by building utility and energy infrastructure in the business zone and through investment in human resource development and marketing.

The basic elements of the project are:

– “Infrastructure works in the Zone” – with this project, SMEs will be placed at the disposal of 304 300 m2 decorated and fully equipped building land in an attractive location.

– “Zone management and marketing” – to build infrastructure began to operate through marketing and educational activities will ensure favorable conditions for the reception and work with investors and activate potentials Zone.
